Description
The Concept 300 is a 2-way Bass-reflex bookshelf speaker from Q Acoustics, designed as a stand-mounted alternative to the floorstanding Concept 500. It combines a bass-midrange driver and a dome tweeter within an assembly conceived to minimise unwanted cabinet vibrations as far as possible.
The cabinet is made up of three layers separated by a non-setting gel that acts as an absorbent seal: the high-frequency vibrations generated by the driver are converted into heat and dissipated within this gel rather than colouring the sound. The 165 mm bass-midrange driver, with an impregnated paper cone and rubber surround, is paired with a 35 mm glass fibre voice coil and a ferrite magnet. The 28 mm dome tweeter, made from coated microfibre, is decoupled from the cabinet by a rubber gasket so as not to transmit or receive unwanted vibrations, which allows it to be mounted close to the bass-midrange driver and aids their integration.
