Quad Revela 2

The Revela 2 is a 3-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker, built around a rigid die-cast chassis. It combines a True Ribbon tweeter with two 6.5-inch woofers and a 6-inch midrange, a configuration designed to cover the full audio spectrum with dedicated allocation of duties between bass, midrange and treble.

The True Ribbon tweeter handles the top of the spectrum, while the midrange and bass drivers use a fibre composition called Reveal, chosen for its rigidity and self-damping properties. A new rubber surround and a high-power motor system allow for increased cone excursion, promoting a bass reproduction that is both deep and fast. The crossover is an Acoustic Butterworth type with phase compensation, designed to ensure a coherent transition between drivers at the 3.8 kHz crossover frequency. The bass-reflex port has been sized with a precise diameter and flare to limit longitudinal resonances that could colour the sound. With a sensitivity of 89 dB at 1 kHz, a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and a power handling of 200 W, the Revela 2 delivers a stated frequency response of 40 Hz to 24 kHz (± 3 dB).
