Description
The Rega Planar 3 RS Edition is a belt-drive turntable that retains the architecture of the Planar 3 while distinguishing itself with an aluminium HPL laminate plinth, presented in a dark brushed metallic finish edged in gloss black. It comes fitted as standard with a hand-assembled RB330 tonearm and a factory-fitted Nd5 moving magnet cartridge, along with a dedicated Neo PSU Mk2 power supply.
The quiet 24 V motor drives the sub-platter via belt and powers the 12 mm thick polished glass platter, whose worked edge contributes to rotational stability. The Neo Mk2 power supply, running on 24 V AC and protected by a resettable fuse, connects to the turntable via a Mini DIN connection and has a power consumption of 7.2 W. Audio output is via RCA phono, to be connected to a phono input suited to an MM cartridge.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the Nd5 cartridge (stylus, suspension) and the drive belt, wear parts directly linked to playback quality. It is also useful to check that the Neo PSU Mk2 power supply and its resettable fuse are working properly, as well as the condition of the glass platter, which is sensitive to knocks and scratches.
