Description
The HT/1003 MKII is an active subwoofer designed by REL for home cinema setups where available space is limited or where the power of the brand's larger models is not required. It retains the same build quality as the larger models in the range, in a more compact format, and is designed in particular to integrate into HT/3D REL installations paired with speakers from the T/x Series.
This subwoofer features a NextGen5 class D amplifier delivering 300 watts RMS, paired with a 10-inch (250 mm) active driver with a CarbonGlas cone structure, fitted with an inverted carbon fibre dust cap and a steel chassis. Low frequency extension reaches -6dB at 24 Hz, reflecting an ability to deliver deep bass for a subwoofer of this size. Connectivity consists of dual-purpose low-level stereo RCA inputs or LFE RCA, with a Daisy Chain output allowing several subwoofers to be linked via stereo RCA or LFE.

What to check before buying used
With this type of amplified subwoofer, it is advisable to test the class D amplification module under sustained load to rule out any background noise, hum or unwanted thermal cut-out. Also check the condition of the 10-inch CarbonGlas driver: the cone structure and carbon fibre dust cap should show no deformation or abnormal play in the steel chassis. Finally, check that the input RCA connectors and Daisy Chain output work correctly, along with the presence and condition of the original mains power supply.
