Description
The REL T9x SE is an active subwoofer designed to extend the bass of a HiFi or home cinema system. It is used alongside bookshelf or stand-mounted speakers to cover the full sound spectrum, from deep bass through to the highest frequencies delivered by the main speakers.
Its class AB amplification module delivers 300 watts RMS, with a low-frequency extension quoted at 27 Hz (at -6 dB). The high-pass crossover frequency is adjustable between 30 and 120 Hz, allowing the subwoofer to be matched to the size of the associated speakers. A 0-180° phase switch and an 80 dB gain control, independent according to the input used (high level, low level or LFE), allow precise calibration according to the room and the system in place.
The 254 mm front driver combines an aluminium and paper composite cone with an inverted alloy dust cap, mounted on a long-throw suspension. A passive radiator, also 254 mm, is downward-firing to boost bass output without requiring a second amplifier. The chassis is made of steel.
Connectivity comprises a mono low-level input via RCA, a stereo high-level input via Neutrik Speakon, an LFE .1 input via RCA, as well as a dedicated input for the optional REL Arrow wireless transmission unit.
This subwoofer is aimed at users wishing to complement a pair of bookshelf or stand-mounted speakers without altering their tonal balance, whether for music listening or home cinema use. The ability to adjust gain separately according to input type makes it easy to integrate into a stereo system as well as a multichannel setup.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the front driver's suspension and the passive radiator, which are particularly stressed on this type of long-throw subwoofer. It is also recommended to check that the master power switch and the Neutrik Speakon and RCA connectors work properly, as well as to check for any absence of unwanted noise or distortion from the amplification module during extended listening at high volume.
