Description
The REL Tzero MKIII is a compact-format subwoofer designed to complement a stereo or home cinema setup in a limited space. It belongs to REL's T Series, which features NextGen Class D amplifiers, and stands out with its high-gloss lacquer finish available in black or white.
Its aluminium cone driver measures 16.5 cm in diameter and benefits from long excursion, allowing it to deliver deep bass despite its small size. The Tzero MKIII also incorporates REL's signature high-level input, along with a separate .1/LFE input stage with its own volume control: this separation allows the level of bass from music and that of the LFE channel dedicated to home cinema to be adjusted independently, without having to alter settings each time the use changes.
This subwoofer is intended for those wishing to reinforce the bass of a small or medium speaker in a modest-sized room, whether for home cinema or music listening. However, it is not sized to effectively fill large volumes, a use for which REL offers larger models.

What to check before buying used
Test the driver over its full travel: the long-excursion aluminium cone should move without rubbing or unwanted noise, a sign of wear or previous impact. Inspect the surround and the rear basket for cracks or signs of moisture. Also check the condition of the lacquer finish, which is particularly prone to micro-scratches and chipping on the corners. Finally, check the independent LFE volume control, which should turn smoothly across its full range.
