Description

What to check before buying used
The input selector and switching relays are worth testing on every position, as oxidised contacts result in crackling or loss of channel. Also check the volume potentiometer, whose wear shows up as crackling noise or a left-right imbalance at the start of its travel. The ten regulated rails and the 350VA toroidal transformer generally age well, but any abnormal hum should raise concerns about the condition of the power supply capacitors. Finally, test the three preamplifier outputs one by one to rule out any RCA connector issues.
