What to check before buying used
The motorised potentiometer may produce a crackling noise when adjusting the volume, a sign of wear that should be tested across its full range. The protection relays (often audibly clicking on power-up) and the capacitors in the dual-mono power supply deserve careful listening, as ageing can result in soft bass or background hum. Also check that the MM phono stage is working properly, as it can be more sensitive to interference, along with the reliability of the aptX Bluetooth pairing.
