Description
The Rose RSA780 is a compact CD player designed to work alongside a Hi-Fi player from the Rose brand. It handles both direct playback of compact discs and the ripping of their audio content to a compatible device, via the ROSE OS application.
Its link with the Rose Hi-Fi player is made exclusively via a USB Type B port, using a USB AB cable dedicated to audio. The CD player and the Rose player are electrically isolated, which means only the musical data is transmitted, without parasitic noise linked to the power supply or the mechanical operation of the player. The internal structure also incorporates insulation intended to limit vibrations generated during disc playback, thereby reducing the noise associated with the mechanism.
On the ripping side, the ROSE OS interface displays the album artwork as well as various information about the inserted disc, with editing possible. Tracks can be recorded in FLAC, compressed FLAC or WAV formats, to various storage media.
This player is aimed at owners of a Rose Hi-Fi player wishing to digitise an existing audio CD collection, or simply wanting a dedicated CD player to connect as a peripheral, without integrated digital-to-analogue conversion or amplification of its own.

What to check before buying used
The optical block remains the sensitive point: a tray that struggles to open or CDs refused for playback often indicate a worn laser. Test the playback of several discs as well as ripping to the ROSE OS application to check that the device is recognised via the USB Type B port. Also examine the internal anti-vibration insulation, the wear of which can reintroduce noise during playback.
