Description
The Sonoro Elite is an all-in-one compact system that brings together, in a single lacquered or walnut-veneered wooden cabinet, the sources usually spread across several devices: internet radio giving access to more than 25,000 stations, digital DAB/DAB+ and FM radio, CD player, Bluetooth reception and music streaming services. A 3.5 mm jack auxiliary input completes the set for a smartphone or laptop.
Sound reproduction relies on a single 3-inch full-range speaker with a Wizard cone, fitted on top of the cabinet and facing upwards: the sound is diffused at 360 degrees rather than in a single direction, which limits placement constraints in a bedroom or on a desk. A bass-reflex tube at the rear supports the bass, and an equaliser allows bass and treble to be adjusted or presets to be chosen among loudness, flat, jazz, rock, movie, classic, pop and news. The CD player accepts CD, CD-R, CD-RW as well as MP3 and WMA discs, with repeat, shuffle and resume functions.
The alarm clock section is well developed: dual timer for two separate times, snooze function, sleep timer adjustable in 15-minute steps up to 90 minutes, and choice of waking to FM, DAB+, internet radio or an alarm tone. The LCD display is paired with a LUX sensor that automatically adapts its brightness to that of the room. Control is via the unit itself, the infrared remote control or the dedicated smartphone app, with four freely programmable preset buttons on the front panel.
The connectivity suits a bedside or desk unit: F-type 75-ohm antenna input for FM/DAB/DAB+, WiFi antenna connection, USB port at 5 V/2.1 A dedicated solely to charging a phone overnight, headphone jack and external 15.5 V/2.9 A power supply on a 100-240 V mains adapter. At 210 x 140 x 257 mm including aerials and around 3.6 kg, the Sonoro Elite is aimed at anyone wanting a single, neat and compact listening system, without multiplying units or giving up CDs.

What to check before buying used
The CD player is the point to check first: play a burned disc and an MP3 CD to verify playback of the different formats, the tray opening and the absence of skips. Then listen to the 3-inch full-range speaker at high volume, and check that the rear bass-reflex port does not whistle. Test the WiFi connection, switching to Bluetooth and the presence of the FM/DAB aerials, which are often misplaced. Finally, make sure the original 15.5 V/2.9 A power supply and the infrared remote control are included with the unit, and that the display's brightness sensor responds correctly to changes in lighting.
