Description
The Sonorous RX 5040 is a hi-fi rack designed to house the various components of an audio and video system: turntable, amplifier, player, tuner or television. Its structure combines aluminium profiles with tempered glass shelves, a combination that favours both the stability of the unit and an uncluttered presentation of the equipment placed on it.
The rack has four tempered glass shelves 8 mm thick, mounted on an aluminium profile frame available in black or brushed stainless steel finish. The spacing between the shelves varies according to level, 16, 21 then 28 cm, which allows equipment to be arranged according to its height, a player or tuner on a lower level, a bulkier amplifier on a more generous spacing. The load capacity reaches 60 kg in total, with 40 kg allowed on the top shelf and 20 kg per shelf on the other levels, enough to accommodate hi-fi equipment of typical size without risk of sagging.
With dimensions of 64 × 81 × 50 cm (W × H × D), the RX 5040 is intended for standard domestic use, in a living room or a room dedicated to listening, for anyone wishing to group several sources and system components on a single stand rather than arranging them on disparate shelving.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the tempered glass shelves, which may show chips on the edges or surface scratches, as well as the sturdiness of the aluminium profiles and their fixing points, which bear the entire load. Checking the flatness and stability of the frame once assembled helps ensure the rack has not suffered any impact or distortion during previous assembly or disassembly.
