Sonus faber Gravis I

The Gravis I is an active subwoofer from Sonus faber, designed to bring bass extension to a stereo or audio/video system. It belongs to the Gravis collection, which marks the Italian brand's return to a segment it helped shape as early as 1986 with the Gravis FB100, before continuing with the Cremona M subwoofers.

This model is built around a sealed enclosure design, paired with Class AB amplification stated to offer high linearity. The 21 cm long-throw driver, fitted with a treated paper cone and a wide rubber surround, is designed to deliver deep bass without excessive distortion for this compact format. Rated power of 150 W, rising to 250 W peak, allows the sound to remain dynamic during demanding passages.

Frequency response extends from 30 Hz to an upper limit adjustable between 40 and 150 Hz, allowing fine tuning depending on the associated speakers. Automatic calibration makes setup easier, while signal phase, continuously adjustable from 0° to 360°, allows fine adjustment of the connection with the rest of the system.

In terms of connectivity, the Gravis I offers a mono RCA LFE input, a mono RCA line input and a 4-pole Neutrik Speakon high-level input, allowing it to fit into a classic stereo system as well as a home cinema setup.

Thanks to its compact format, this subwoofer is aimed at those wishing to enhance an existing system without taking up a large amount of floor space. It was designed to pair naturally with the Sonus faber Sonetto speaker collection, but its varied connectivity allows it to fit into most audio or audio/video systems.
