Description
The Lumina II Amator is a 2-way front-ported (bass-reflex) bookshelf speaker designed by Italian luthier Sonus Faber. It builds on the acoustic design of the Lumina II range while introducing a revised crossover and premium finishes intended for use at low to medium listening volumes.
The 150 mm mid-woofer combines cellulose pulp and natural fibres, while the 29 mm D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) silk dome tweeter provides extended dispersion and good linearity. The electronic crossover, revised with selected components, raises the crossover frequency to 2600 Hz, 800 Hz higher than on the standard version, contributing to improved sensitivity and easier amplifier drive. With a sensitivity of 86 dB/2.83 V/m and an impedance of 4 ohms, the speaker accepts a recommended power of 30 to 150 W RMS. Frequency response extends from 55 Hz to 24 kHz.
The multi-layer genuine wood veneer front baffle, available in glossy red, glossy wenge or glossy walnut, features grain converging at 45° towards the drivers, while the top and side panels are finished in genuine black leather. Bi-wiring terminals allow separate connection of the bass and treble sections.

What to check before buying used
The mid-woofer's cellulose pulp and natural fibre suspension warrants a visual check for any sagging or cracking related to material ageing. Also check the condition of the D.A.D. tweeter's silk dome, which is prone to accidental denting, as well as the crossover's performance by listening across the full spectrum to detect any loss of linearity. The genuine leather finish on the sides and top may show signs of wear or slight cracking depending on storage conditions.
