Description
The Olympica Nova I is a 2-way bookshelf speaker from the Italian brand Sonus Faber, designed to be installed on a stand. It belongs to the Olympica Nova line, which builds on the principles of the original Olympica range while incorporating technological developments affecting the drivers, the crossover, the cabinet structure and the internal volume.
The tweeter uses DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology on a 28 mm silk dome diaphragm, paired with a neodymium capped magnet motor. The dome and ring of the DAD system have been redesigned and are made from cast aluminium, a design inherited and improved upon from the original Olympica line.
The woofer is built around a cone manufactured using a sandwich technique: two sheets of cellulose pulp enclose a synthetic foam. This construction, both lightweight and rigid, aims for fast and powerful sound reproduction while ensuring coherence with the midrange-treble register, the latter being derived from the drivers used in the Homage Tradition collection.
The crossover uses the Paracross topology, revised to be less sensitive to radio-frequency interference, aiming for improved transient response and reduced background noise. The entire line uses Clarity Cap capacitors developed specifically for Sonus Faber. The cabinet is of the para-aperiodic vented type, following the brand's own Stealth Ultraflex principle.
This model is aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts looking for a compact speaker to install on a stand, in a medium-sized listening room, for use in a classic stereo configuration.

Checking the crossover and the Clarity Cap capacitors is also recommended, as these components can degrade over the years. Finally, it is worth checking the presence and condition of the original feet or stands, essential to the optimal operation of this model, which is designed to be raised.
