Description
The Olympica Nova III is a 3-way floorstanding speaker designed by Sonus faber, the successor to the original Olympica line. It combines a cabinet with a refreshed exterior design and a reworked internal architecture, with a new internal volume setting, to carry forward the sonic identity of the range while incorporating more recent technologies.
The tweeter uses a 28 mm silk dome diaphragm paired with DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology, with a redesigned vault and ring made of cast aluminium, and a neodymium capped magnetic motor. This design aims for precise and controlled treble reproduction. The midrange and mid-woofer drivers are derived from those of the Homage Tradition collection, with improvements made for this Nova version. The woofer is built around a sandwich cone, two sheets of cellulose pulp enclosing a high-tech synthetic foam, a light and rigid structure intended to provide a fast response while remaining coherent with the mid-treble.
The crossover reuses Paracross Topology technology, revised to be less sensitive to radio-frequency interference, with the aim of a better transient response and reduced background noise. The entire Nova line adopts Clarity Cap capacitors developed specifically for Sonus faber. The cabinet features a full para-aperiodic port design, known as Stealth Ultraflex.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the drivers, in particular the woofer's suspensions and the integrity of the silk tweeter dome, which is sensitive to impact and humidity. A check of the crossover and the Clarity Cap capacitors is also recommended, as well as a visual inspection of the cabinet and exterior veneer, to ensure there is no deformation or crack that could affect the seal of the Stealth Ultraflex port.
