Sony VPL-XW5100ES

The VPL-XW5100ES is a Home Cinema laser projector fitted with a native 4K SXRD panel. It relies on the XR processor for projector, derived from the image processing technologies used in Sony's BRAVIA televisions, to render 4K HDR content with high contrast and image depth.

Its light source is a phosphor laser lamp rated for a lifespan of 20,000 hours, which limits maintenance work over the long term. Dynamic contrast is rated as infinite, and the minimum operating noise level drops to 26 dB, an important point for an installation in a dedicated room where the quietness of the unit matters as much as image quality. Maximum brightness reaches 2,200 lumens, to be adjusted according to the screen size chosen and the ambient lighting of the room.

In terms of projected image, the unit covers a diagonal of 1,524 mm to 7,620 mm (60 to 300 inches), with a projection distance ranging from 1.82 m to 14.4 m depending on the configuration. It includes an aspect ratio resizing function allowing digital switching between 2.35:1 and 16:9 formats without adjusting the optics, an advantage for installations fitted with a Cinemascope screen. HDR10/HLG compatibility rounds off the package for playing HDR content.
