SPL Elector

The Elector is a fully analogue stereo preamplifier from SPL, designed to centralise and control multiple hi-fi sources. It accepts up to six analogue stereo sources thanks to three pairs of balanced XLR inputs and three gold-plated RCA inputs, and features a tape monitor path as well as a remote-controlled motorised volume control.

Its operation relies on VOLTAiR technology, an internal architecture running on a 120-volt direct voltage, four times that of conventional solid-state operational amplifiers. This high voltage results in a dynamic range of 132.5 dB and very low crosstalk of -112 dBu at 0 dBu and 1 kHz, two factors that limit background noise and preserve the fine nuances of the analogue signal. The frequency range extends from 10 Hz to 100 kHz at 0 dBu, with a maximum input and output gain of 32.5 dBu. The internal linear power supply, combined with a shielded toroidal transformer, powers the audio stages at +/- 60 V and the relays and LEDs at +12 V, for a maximum consumption of 40 VA and less than 0.3 W in standby.

This preamplifier is aimed at enthusiasts of analogue hi-fi systems with several sources to switch between, turntable, CD player, tape recorder or tuner, seeking a central hub capable of preserving the richness of the signal without digital conversion. The retro-styled VU meter and motorised volume control also make it a device designed for comfortable everyday use, alongside a separate power amplifier stage.
