SPL Phonitor X
Description
The Phonitor x combines a headphone amplifier and a high-end preamplifier, the latter being able to directly drive power amplifiers or active speakers. Paired with the optional digital-to-analogue converter, it handles both analogue and digital sources. Its Phonitor matrix reproduces a listening experience on headphones close to that obtained with speakers.
The device offers a classic jack headphone output as well as a balanced output via a 4-pin XLR connector. Its high output power allows it to drive any headphones without constraint: thanks to SPL VOLTAiR technology, it delivers a precise and detailed sound while retaining dynamism.
The Phonitor x can accept up to five stereo sources:
- Native XLR and RCA inputs
- USB, coaxial and optical inputs via the optional DAC768xs module
Audio connections can be balanced (XLR) or unbalanced (RCA/Cinch). The DAC768xs module, when added, brings three additional digital inputs: the PCM signal is accepted via S/P-DIF, both coaxial (Cinch) and optical (Toslink F06), while USB allows conversion of both PCM and DSD streams.
The converter automatically recognises the sample rate and resolution of the connected digital source, whether it be a streamer, a computer or a CD player, with no manual configuration required on the Phonitor x.
