Description
The SR-X9000 is an open-back electrostatic headphone, positioned at the top of the Stax range. It is based on the principle of electrostatic listening, a technology in which the Japanese brand has specialised for several decades, and aims for particularly fine and detailed sound reproduction.
Its major technical feature is the fixed MILER-3 electrode (Multi-Layer-Elect-Rords), a four-layer structure combining mesh electrodes and conventional etched electrodes, assembled by diffusion thermal bonding. This architecture, the result of twenty years of research, offers increased rigidity resistant to resonance while preserving progressive sound transmission, a compromise that metal mesh electrodes previously struggled to maintain without suffering from parasitic resonances. The SR-X9000's diaphragm also uses an ultra-thin technical film, 20% larger than that of the previous flagship model SR-009S, with reduced mass intended to improve reaction speed and extend response in the high frequencies.
