T+A Music Receiver

The Music Receiver from T+A belongs to the German manufacturer's E-Series and brings together in a single chassis three functions usually kept separate: stereo amplification, compact disc playback and network connectivity for streaming dematerialised audio files. This hybrid unit results, according to T+A, from the combination of its Power Plant amplifier and its Music Player MKII CD and network player.

The amplification section uses the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology employed in the Power Plant. This operating principle, specific to digital amplifiers, delivers good energy efficiency combined with low distortion across the entire frequency range. The Music Receiver thus delivers an output of 2x160 watts into 4 ohms, enough to drive speakers that demand current without faltering.

The preamplification stages, digital-to-analogue conversion and CD transport mechanism come directly from the Music Player. The DACs are configured in dual mono and offer a resolution of 32 bits at 384 kHz. On the digital input side, the unit accepts high-resolution files up to 24 bits 192 kHz via its S/PDIF inputs, allowing playback of dematerialised sources of higher quality than CD format.

This Music Receiver is aimed at a user who wishes to simplify their system without sacrificing quality, bringing together in a single unit physical CD playback, network streaming and amplification capable of directly driving demanding speakers.
