Description
The Power Plant is a stereo integrated amplifier designed by the German manufacturer T+A. It brings together in a single chassis the entire amplification chain needed to drive a pair of speakers, with the option of connecting several analogue sources and, optionally, a turntable.
Its power output reaches 140 W per channel into 8 Ω and rises to 240 W per channel into 4 Ω, allowing it to drive current-hungry speakers, including low-impedance models. The power stage relies on PWM technology, an architecture aimed at high efficiency while maintaining controlled amplification.
The unit offers five line inputs, enough to connect several sources simultaneously such as a CD player, a tuner or a digital source fitted with an analogue output. A headphone output is built in, allowing headphone listening without additional equipment. For vinyl enthusiasts, an optional MM/MC phono module can be added, allowing a turntable to be connected directly without an external phono preamplifier.
This model is aimed at a user wanting a single piece of electronics capable of covering both headphone listening and driving current-hungry speakers, within a multi-source stereo system. Its available power into 4 Ω makes it a suitable choice for speakers whose impedance drops below this threshold.

What to check before buying used
The motorised potentiometer may develop crackling or a channel imbalance after several years, particularly if lightly used; testing at low and high volume on each input helps rule this out. The PWM power stage means checking for the absence of background noise, hum or abnormal chassis heating during extended use. If the MM/MC phono module is fitted, its continuity and gain level warrant a separate check, as this optional component is used less often than the line inputs.
