Tangent Ampster BT III

The Ampster BT III is a compact stereo integrated amplifier designed to centralise several audio sources around a single system. It combines Bluetooth reception, analogue and digital inputs and a dedicated phono connection, making it a pivot for a simplified hi-fi chain or a direct pairing with passive speakers.

Its output power of 2 × 50 W into 4 Ω allows it to drive compact or desktop speakers without an additional power stage. The CS4344 digital-to-analogue converter, capable of processing 24-bit streams up to 192 kHz, handles conversion of digital sources received via the Toslink optical input or via Bluetooth. The QCC3031 Bluetooth module in version 5.1 with aptX-HD support aims for low-loss wireless transmission, useful for listening from a smartphone or a computer. A signal-to-noise ratio above 95 dBA limits perceptible background noise, and an adjustable equaliser from -8 dB to +8 dB, with a 2 dB step at 120 Hz, allows the tonal balance to be corrected according to the room or speakers used.

The presence of a RIAA phono input sets this amplifier apart: it allows a turntable to be connected directly without a separate phono preamplifier, simplifying installation for a vinyl enthusiast who does not wish to add extra units. The HDMI ARC/CEC connection also facilitates integration with a television, with the amplifier able to serve as an audio output for the TV while still being controlled from the television's remote control thanks to CEC.

This model is aimed at anyone wanting a compact system bringing together several sources, turntable, television, Bluetooth smartphone, without adding extra peripheral devices.
