Tannoy Stirling GR

The Stirling GR is a 2-way floorstanding speaker with dual bass-reflex loading, built around Tannoy's Dual Concentric driver: a dome tweeter positioned at the centre of a 25 cm woofer, a technology patented by the brand. This coaxial arrangement aligns the emission point of the bass and treble frequencies, promoting tonal coherence and a precise stereo image, regardless of the listening angle.

The 254 mm low-frequency driver pairs a paper pulp cone with a double roll surround made of impregnated fabric, along with a 42 mm voice coil: a design intended to handle high levels while retaining control in the bass. The 25 mm aluminium/magnesium alloy dome tweeter is paired with a Tulip waveguide that shapes the dispersion of sound within the room. Frequency response extends from 39 Hz to 46 kHz (at -6 dB), delivering a reproduction that covers both deep bass and the highest harmonics. With a sensitivity of 91 dB/W/m and an impedance of 8 ohms (5 ohms minimum), it works with amplifiers from 20 to 170 W RMS, with a power handling of 85 W RMS (340 W peak).

This floorstanding speaker is aimed at demanding listening in medium to large rooms, where a faithful and detailed sound reproduction is sought. Its size and versatility with regard to amplification make it a relevant choice for a hi-fi system built around precision and tonal coherence.
