What to check before buying used
The chrome-plated steel tubular uprights deserve a visual check: knocks, early signs of rust or pitting affect both the appearance and the stability of the unit. On the Cherry-finish shelves, check for chips, swelling or lifting of the veneer, particularly at the corners and near the fixing points to the tubes. Also check for play at the joints between shelves and uprights, which can develop over time and weaken the unit under the weight of a turntable or amplifier.
