Description
The CD-P750DAB from TEAC is a compact multimedia player that combines a slot-loading CD mechanism, a radio tuner and Bluetooth connectivity. It fits into a hi-fi system as a single source and can play classic audio CDs as well as data CDs burnt in CD-R/RW format, SD cards or USB sticks containing WAV, MP3, AAC or WMA files.
The slot-loading mechanism, derived from professional audio equipment, allows for quick disc loading. On the digital output side, the signal passes through a 32-bit Burr-Brown PCM5142 converter, while the aluminium chassis and its anti-vibration structure aim to limit mechanical interference that could degrade the sound. In terms of measurements, the unit shows a total harmonic distortion of 0.005% at 1 kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio above 95 dB and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz at ±1 dB.
The built-in tuner covers the DAB+ and FM bands, with the ability to store 20 preset stations for each. The Bluetooth connection supports the AAC and Qualcomm aptX HD codecs, in addition to standard SBC, for wirelessly streaming music from a compatible smartphone, tablet or media player.
The connectivity includes a front-panel AUX IN input for connecting a wired source, TUNER OUT outputs at the rear providing a signal independent of the LINE OUT output, as well as an analogue RCA output, an optical digital output and a coaxial digital output. An FM/DAB aerial is supplied. The unit also allows digital recording of the content of a CD or a radio programme received via the aerial directly onto an SD card or USB stick.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking that the slot-loading mechanism works properly, as it can be prone to wear or dirt build-up after prolonged use, and testing actual playback of different disc types (CD-DA, CD-R, CD-RW). It is also useful to test DAB+/FM reception with the supplied aerial, proper Bluetooth pairing, and playback or recording to SD cards and USB sticks to ensure the removable media readers have no contact faults.
