TEAC DRH300

The TEAC DRH300 is a mini hi-fi system integrating a multi-format DVD player and an amplifier, designed to bring together audio playback, video playback and digital connectivity in a single compact unit.

The amplification delivers a power output of 2x50 Watts, sufficient to fill a medium-sized living room without requiring separate electronics. The built-in player supports a wide range of media: SA-CD, DVD-Video, DVD+R/+RW, VCD, SVCD, CD, CD-R/RW, as well as MP3, WMA, JPEG and DivX files, allowing it to play both standard audio discs and burned or compressed multimedia content. A USB port adds to this versatility by offering an additional playback source without going through an optical disc.

On the video output side, the unit offers HDMI, Component video, S-video, Composite video, SCART and a Sub out output, allowing it to be connected to televisions of different generations depending on the equipment available.

When buying used, it is worth checking that the DVD player's tray operates correctly, that the various announced disc formats actually play back, and the condition of the USB port and the different video outputs, particularly the HDMI output, which is more prone to connector wear than the analogue outputs. It is also useful to test each type of video output separately, as some units of this generation show partial faults on a single interface without affecting the others.
