TEAC NT-507T

The NT-507T is a network player from TEAC's Reference 500 series, designed to make the most of music streaming by pairing it with an external DAC. Its output is exclusively digital, in USB format, allowing it to be paired with a converter such as the UD-507 and its discrete "TRDD 5" conversion stage, to accurately reproduce both online streams and files hosted on a NAS.

The heart of the unit is the TEAC Network Engine G4 processor, around which the entire design has been reworked to prioritise sound quality. The switch-mode power supply has given way to a high-capacity linear power unit, reducing sources of electrical noise and delivering a rendering described as dynamic, natural and fluid, comparable to that of a turntable. On the network connections side, the unit combines an RJ45 Ethernet port, an SFP optical input and Wi-Fi 6. Its USB output dedicated to high fidelity benefits from a separate power supply, for a signal transmitted to the DAC with minimal alteration.

The ergonomics have been designed for current streaming uses. The NT-507T communicates with OpenHome-compatible applications, including TEAC HR Streamer, and offers USB volume control that can be adjusted directly from the app, for connected USB DACs or preamplifiers. It is compatible with the main high-resolution streaming platforms, Qobuz, Spotify, TIDAL and TuneIn, and features a Roon Ready mode for seamless integration with this ecosystem. Two USB ports complete the unit, allowing USB drives, hard drives or SSDs to be connected directly, turning the unit into a music server.
