Description
The TN-280BT is a manual belt-drive turntable from TEAC, designed to allow record listening without a complex audio set-up. It integrates a phono preamp and a Bluetooth transmitter, allowing a direct connection to a conventional amplifier as well as to wireless speakers or headphones.
Drive is by belt, paired with a high-torque DC motor, for stable rotation at 33⅓ and 45 revolutions per minute. The die-cast aluminium platter, 30 cm in diameter, provides rotational inertia, while the polished stainless steel spindle and its bronze bearing contribute to the mechanical precision of the unit. The S-shaped, statically balanced tonearm measures 223 mm in effective length and accepts an adjustable tracking force of 0 to 5 g, with the Audio-Technica ATN3600L MM-type cartridge fitted as standard at a recommended tracking force of 2.0 g.
Analogue output is via an RCA socket switchable between phono level and line level, allowing the turntable to be connected to an amplifier already equipped with a phono stage or to a standard line input. The dual-mode Bluetooth 5.2 module, compatible with SBC and the A2DP profile, adds the option of wireless streaming to compatible speakers or headphones, via a pairing button located on the front right side of the plinth.
This turntable is aimed at a user wishing to rediscover their vinyl collection without investing in a full hi-fi system, or who simply wants to stream sound to wireless speakers already in place. The stated signal-to-noise ratio of 67 dB or better and the MDF cabinet, designed to limit vibration and resonance, aim for clean listening both wired and wireless.

What to check before buying used
Before purchasing a used unit, it is worth checking that the platter turns smoothly at both available speeds and that the tonearm moves freely without excessive play, as these mechanical parts are the most exposed to wear on a turntable.
