Torus Power AVR ELITE 16 CE
Torus Power automatic voltage regulator with 8 outlets, for a stable mains supply up to 16 amps.
Description
The Torus Power AVR Elite 16 CE is an automatic voltage regulator, designed to be placed between the domestic electrical supply and an audio installation. Its function is to stabilise the voltage delivered to connected equipment, regardless of fluctuations in the mains supply.
The principle relies on automatic voltage regulation, denoted by the acronym AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). This technology continuously adjusts the output voltage to keep it at a stable, optimal level, rather than letting it vary with the vagaries of the mains supply.
The unit has 8 outlets, for a total capacity of 16 amps. It can therefore power several components of a hi-fi system or home cinema system simultaneously, centralising their power supply through a single regulation unit.
This type of product is aimed at users with an audio installation made up of several components, who wish to provide them with a more stable power supply than a simple mains socket. It is particularly suited to configurations where several pieces of equipment need to be powered from a single point.

What to check before buying used
The internal toroidal transformer deserves careful listening with no load: an audible hum or rapid heating indicates worn windings. The eight outlets should be checked one by one, contacts and fixings, as mechanical play encourages micro-cuts on connected equipment. The automatic regulation circuit itself should be tested by observing the stability of the output voltage during deliberate mains variations, as should the input cord and plug, which are stressed by the installation's high amperage.
