Description
The Transrotor Zet 3 is a high-end turntable designed by the German manufacturer Transrotor. It is positioned as an evolution of the Zet1, retaining its constructive principles while increasing its mass to improve control of the mechanical vibrations transmitted to the playback system.
The chassis adopts a sandwich construction combining acrylic and aluminium, with a high-gloss polished finish. The platter, made of aluminium, is 70 mm thick and weighs approximately 12 kg; it receives a black coating. This substantial mass, 10 kg greater than that of the Zet1, helps stabilise playback by limiting unwanted resonance. The variator can accommodate two tonearms, with the motor then offset onto a side-mounted support; when paired with the Konstant Eins M-3 power supply unit, the drive can operate with two motors.
Drive is by belt, powered by a dedicated external transformer, an arrangement intended to limit electromagnetic interference that could affect the signal. The tonearm is fitted to a cylindrical aluminium piece, designed to reduce the transmission of vibrations to the cartridge.

What to check before buying used
The originally fitted cartridge should be checked before purchase: worn or replaced stylus, alignment to be rechecked. Examine the condition of the drive belt, which is prone to ageing and loss of elasticity, as well as the flatness of the aluminium platter and the absence of scratches on the high-gloss acrylic finish, which is particularly susceptible to micro-marks. The operation of the Konstant Eins M-3 power supply unit, when supplied with the turntable, should also be tested.
