The Thetis 300 is an active subwoofer from Triangle, designed to reinforce the bass of a home cinema installation or a stereo system fitted with small-format speakers. It fits into a limited space while ensuring the extension of the low frequencies that compact speakers cannot produce on their own.
The subwoofer features a 20 cm woofer paired with a 150 Watt RMS Class D amplifier. What to check before buying used
The woofer and its bass reflex port deserve a careful listen: a tired suspension or a misbehaving port results in a boomy sound or a lack of control in the lower register. Check that both potentiometers (crossover and level) and the phase control work properly, as these are often prone to loose contacts after several years of use. Also test the LED display, the remote control and the automatic standby function, which can show electronic faults on older units.
