Velodyne DB Series

The Velodyne DB Series belongs to the Deep Blue range, a subwoofer platform developed by Velodyne Acoustics to equip a living room without excessive bulk. It is an active subwoofer intended to complement a main speaker by providing the bass extension needed for home cinema.

The single 200 mm driver uses a polypropylene-reinforced cone and a quadruple voice coil paired with dual ferrite magnets, a configuration designed to offer good efficiency and a fast response to transients. The class AB amplification delivers 300 W RMS, with a peak of 800 W. The reinforced MDF chassis and sealed enclosure limit unwanted vibrations from the cabinet, an important point for preserving bass accuracy. The overall frequency response spans 18 to 300 Hz, with a +/- 3 dB range between 32 and 180 Hz. The crossover frequency is adjustable from 50 to 180 Hz and the phase can be adjusted from 0 to 180°, two settings that allow the subwoofer to be tuned to the listening room and the rest of the system.

In terms of connectivity, the DB Series offers a high-level input, an RCA line input, a dedicated LFE input with looped LFE output, as well as an RCA line output. Automatic power on and standby avoid the need to manage switching on manually. A removable fabric cover completes the finish.

This subwoofer is aimed at a user wishing to reinforce an existing home cinema setup without investing in a large model, particularly in a living room where the compact format (260 x 280 x 290 mm for 10 kg) is a key criterion.
