The Platinium HD is a speaker cable designed by Viard Audio Design for prestige Hi-Fi systems. Its design relies on separate transmission lines for the bass and treble, each sized according to the frequencies it carries. What to check before buying used
With this type of cable, wear is mainly found in the beryllium copper contact springs and the condition of the interchangeable heads: check for the absence of oxidation and a firm hold when switching between single-wiring and bi-wiring configurations. Also inspect the internal solder joints of the star ground assembly, which are sensitive to repeated flexing, as well as the condition of the faux leather sheath, which can crack or peel over time. A sagging contact spring or a poorly fitted head degrades the stated shielding and can introduce audible interference.
