Description
The Silver HD12 is an unbalanced RCA/RCA interconnect cable designed by Viard Audio Design, using the metallurgical formulation of the Silver HD range. It connects a source to an amplifier or any other component in a hi-fi system via an analogue line connection.
The conductors are made of Cu-VHQ copper combined with silver, surrounded by a silver-braided shielding reinforced with an aluminium foil, a construction intended to limit electromagnetic interference on the connection. The professional-grade RCA connectors are gold-plated with a TEFLON dielectric, and have been machined specifically to fit the cable's 12 mm diameter; the shielding sleeves and rings are made of machined AU-4G. The white silicone sheath provides peripheral insulation while offering good mechanical compliance and resistance to UV and chemical agents, useful for intensive use or constrained cable routing. Electrically, the cable has a conductor/ground capacitance of 145 pF/m, a total inductance of 0.80 µH/m and a bandwidth of 0 to 280 kHz, measurements taken at 20°C and 1 kHz.
