Description
The Silver HD20 is an unbalanced RCA/RCA interconnect cable intended for high-end audio connections. It uses the metallurgical formulation of the SILVER HD range, with multi-strand Cu-VHQ copper and silver conductors, combined with a silver-braided shielding that provides protection against electromagnetic interference.
The professional-grade RCA connectors are machined to specification to fit the 20 mm diameter white silicone sheath specific to this range. They feature gold plating and a TEFLON dielectric, whilst the shielding sleeves and rings are made from machined AU-4G alloy. Electrically, the cable offers a conductor/ground capacitance of 98 pF/m and a total inductance of 1 µH/m, measurements taken at 20 °C and 1 kHz.
The silicone sheath offers good mechanical compliance, facilitating cable handling and routing, along with UV and chemical resistance suited to intensive use.

What to check before buying used
Check the integrity of the silver-braided shielding at the flex points near the connectors, an area where micro-breaks in the strands can lead to background noise and loss of shielding. Inspect the gold plating on the RCA plugs, which is susceptible to micro-scratches and oxidation from repeated connections, as well as the flexibility of the silicone sheath, which may harden or crack over time. Test each channel separately to rule out any loose contact at the TEFLON dielectric or the AU-4G rings.
