What to check before buying used
Check that the XLR connectors show no play or wear on the gold plating, particularly around the pins and locking mechanism, as an oxidised or loose contact noticeably degrades the balanced connection. Inspect the silicone sheath along its full length: cuts, nicks or stiffening may indicate damage to the underlying braided shielding. A continuity test at both ends will confirm there is no internal break in a conductor, which is not visible to the naked eye on this type of multi-strand cable.
