Description
The HD20 XLR 2.5 m is a balanced analogue interconnect cable fitted with XLR connectors with gold-plated contacts. It is intended to connect an audio source, such as a DAC, a CD player or a preamplifier, to an amplifier fitted with balanced inputs.
Its multi-strand conductors combine pure Cu-VHQ copper and silver, a combination sought after to limit signal losses along the connection. The copper and silver braided shielding aims to reduce electromagnetic interference picked up along the cable's path, an important point in balanced connections where the quality of the shielding determines the rejection of common-mode noise. The Teflon (PTFE) dielectric separates the conductors with a stable dielectric constant, while the 12 mm diameter silicone sheath protects the assembly. The capacitance of 80 pF/m and the inductance of 0.4 µH/m are the electrical values measured on this cable.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is advisable to check the condition of the XLR connectors, in particular the absence of play or oxidation on the gold-plated contacts, as well as the flexibility of the silicone sheath, which can harden or crack over time. Checking the electrical continuity of the shielding and conductors, along with a connection test, ensures that no internal strand has been broken by repeated flexing or improper storage.
