Description
The Vincent SP-331 is a hybrid stereo power amplifier, combining a tube input stage with a transistor output stage. It is intended to amplify a signal coming from a preamplifier, with no source selection function or integrated volume control.
The hybrid architecture is based on two 6N16 tubes at the input, relayed by a transistor output stage. This configuration delivers a power output of 2 × 150 W into 8 Ω, rising to 2 × 300 W into 4 Ω, allowing it to drive current-demanding speakers. The frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 50 kHz, with a total harmonic distortion of 0.1% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 90 dB, values that reflect accurate reproduction across the entire audible spectrum.

What to check before buying used
The 6N16 tubes in the input stage deserve a check: verify the absence of microphonics or background noise, bearing in mind that these valves wear with operating hours and may eventually require replacement. The transistor output stage should be tested at full power on both channels to rule out any imbalance or abnormal distortion. A check of the solder joints and internal capacitors is also recommended on a unit that has already seen several years of service.
