Description
The Vincent SP-T700 is a mono block power amplifier, designed to be used in pairs in order to power each channel of a stereo system independently. It follows the tradition of hybrid amplification dear to Vincent, combining tube circuits and transistor stages within the same unit.
This mono block is built around new pentode tube circuits coupled to a stabilised power supply circuit patented by Vincent. Eight high-power transistors deliver an output of 200 W into 8 ohms per block. The 500 W transformer and the electrolytic capacitors, up to 80000 µF, are sized to sustain the current demands required for controlled, extended bass. The FET power supply contributes to a high signal-to-noise ratio and a low distortion rate.
The SP-T700 is aimed at enthusiasts wishing to move their stereo system towards a mono block architecture, with a dedicated channel for each speaker. It is particularly well suited to current-hungry speakers, where controlled bass and a wide soundstage are sought.

What to check before buying used
On these hybrid mono blocks, the presence of pentode tubes means their wear must be checked: micro-cuts, hum or loss of gain indicate end-of-life valves that need replacing in pairs. Also check the condition of the electrolytic capacitors (up to 80000 µF), whose ageing results in soft bass or increased hiss, as well as the tightness of the speaker and mains terminals, which are put under strain by the 500 W transformer. A load test lasting several tens of minutes allows you to check for the absence of overheating or unwanted protection cut-outs.
