Description
The WiiM Sub Pro is an active subwoofer designed to reinforce the low-frequency register of an audio system, whether for music listening, home cinema or gaming. It operates independently thanks to its built-in amplifier and can be paired with other devices, WiiM or otherwise, via various connections.
The subwoofer features a 20 cm (8-inch) long-excursion driver, driven by a Class D amplifier delivering 250 W. This combination achieves a sensitivity of 104 dB SPL with total harmonic distortion below 1%, even at high volume. The frequency response spans 25 to 200 Hz at ±3 dB, with an overall frequency range from 35 Hz to 20 kHz, placing the unit in an extended bass register rather than extreme sub-bass territory.
On the connectivity side, the Sub Pro offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 with support for SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs, for a wireless connection to a compatible source or speaker. For a wired installation, it has an analogue mono RCA input as well as an RJ45 Ethernet port, allowing it to be connected to an amplifier or source with a subwoofer output, regardless of brand.
The unit is controlled via the WiiM Home app, available on iOS and Android, which provides access to a 10-band parametric equaliser, along with adjustment of crossover frequency, subwoofer level, delay (latency) and phase. These settings allow precise integration of the subwoofer into an existing pair of speakers or home cinema system.
The WiiM Sub Pro is aimed at those wishing to complement an existing stereo or home cinema setup, without changing their amplifier or source, while taking advantage of modern wireless connectivity. It is equally suited to a WiiM multiroom system or a classic hi-fi chain fitted with a subwoofer output.

What to check before buying used
Check the RCA input socket and the RJ45 Ethernet port, whose contacts can oxidise or work loose over time. Listen to the long-excursion driver at moderate volume to detect any scraping from the suspension or spider, a sign of mechanical wear. Also test Wi-Fi and Bluetooth pairing (SBC, AAC, LDAC) with a recent source, as some older firmware versions may limit codec compatibility.
