The TuneTot is a compact two-way bookshelf speaker designed by Wilson Audio for installations where room space or acoustics impose particular constraints. It follows in the line of speakers developed by the Wilson Special Applications Engineering team, which specialises in atypical listening configurations.
The 14.61 cm midrange-woofer uses a Doped Paper Pulp cone, while the 2.54 cm dome tweeter is made from Doped Silk Fabric. The cabinet is built from two composites unique to Wilson, the materials designated X and S, combined to control cabinet vibration.
The sensitivity of 86 dB (1 W / 1 m / 1 kHz) and nominal impedance of 8 ohms, with a minimum of 6.61 ohms at 172 Hz, indicate a load that requires an amplifier capable of delivering current stably across this impedance range. What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the midrange-woofer's surrounds, which can stiffen or crack over time and affect bass performance. Inspect the treated silk tweeter dome, which is prone to accidental dents, as well as the X and S material cabinet for chips, delamination or impact marks on the edges. A listening test on each channel also helps identify any hum or sound distortion at moderate volume.
