Description

The Eclipse 10 is a connecting cable between amplifier and loudspeakers, designed by Wireworld for high-end audio installations. It is supplied as a pre-assembled set, terminated with spade or banana plug connectors depending on the user's choice, in various lengths.

This cable is based on the patented Octo DNA HELIX design, which arranges eight signal conductors made up of 96 insulated strands of OCC-7N copper, an Ohno Continuous-Cast copper recognised for its purity. The cable gauge reaches 9AWG, i.e. 6 mm² cross-section, a generous size that limits series resistance on the link between the amplifier and the speakers. The Composilex 5 insulation wraps the whole assembly, and the Uni-Term plug contacts are silver-plated for electrical contact quality. The cable has a diameter of 17 mm, and the plugs a diameter of 41 mm.

This cable is aimed at high-end audio system enthusiasts wishing to fully exploit the potential of their speakers and amplification, in a stereo or home cinema configuration where the quality of the connection matters as much as that of the connected equipment.

What to check before buying used

With this type of cable, attention should be paid to the Uni-Term connectors: the silver plating can tarnish or slightly oxidise on the surface after several years, which affects contact if the cable has seen little use. The Composilex 5 sheathing and the cable's generous diameter also require checking for the absence of kinks or marked stress, which could have weakened the insulation at bend points. A visual check of the spades or banana plugs, along with a continuity test on each strand, helps ensure the connection has not suffered from previous use.
