Description
The Eclipse 10 is an interconnect cable designed to link two components of a hi-fi system via an XLR or RCA connection, with the aim of transmitting the audio signal with minimal alteration. It belongs to Wireworld's high-end range and uses the DNA Helix architecture found on the brand's more expensive models.
The conductor is made of OCC-7N copper, presented as the finest offered by the brand, spread across 4 signal conductors and 32 insulated strands. Compared with the Eclipse 8 model preceding it in the range, the Eclipse 10 doubles the number of strand groups and adopts Composilex 5 insulation designed to limit interference. RCA versions use a 0.8 mm² (18AWG) cross-section, while XLR versions are 0.4 mm² (21AWG). Contacts also differ depending on the termination: silver-plated OFC copper for RCA, silver-plated copper alloy for XLR.
This cable is aimed at high-end hi-fi systems where the connection between sources, preamplifiers or amplifiers can have an audible effect on sound reproduction. It is intended for users wishing to preserve the dynamics and tone of instruments and voices on an already demanding upstream and downstream setup.

What to check before buying used
The Composilex 5 sheath and insulated strand groups do not tolerate tight twisting or overly short bend radii well: check for pronounced kinks or cracks along the full length. The silver-plated RCA connectors and XLR plugs deserve a check of the pins (oxidation, play, locking mechanism) as well as a continuity test on all four signal conductors. Also inspect the crimp points at the ends, the area most exposed to shielding misalignment after repeated handling.
