Description
The Wireworld Solstice 10 is an interconnect cable designed to connect sources and hi-fi equipment together, available in unbalanced RCA or balanced XLR versions. It features a refined version of the Tri DNA Helix design, patented by Wireworld, combined with Composilex 5 insulation intended to preserve the reproduction of detail and musical dynamics on both types of connection.
The cable uses silver-plated oxygen-free copper signal conductors, structured as 3 conductors of 14 insulated strands. The cross-section differs depending on the version chosen: 23AWG, i.e. 0.26 mm², for the RCA version, and 26AWG, i.e. 0.13 mm², for the XLR version. These cross-sections, finer than those of traditional power cables, are typical of high-purity signal cables, where the quality of the metal and plating takes precedence over conductor size.
The RCA connectors are of Gold-Tube type, with a firm, smooth grip and 24-carat gold-plated OFC copper contacts, ensuring a stable connection over time. On the XLR version, the contacts are made of silver-plated copper alloy, consistent with the choice of conductors for the same version.
This cable is aimed at enthusiasts of carefully assembled hi-fi systems who wish to connect a source, a preamplifier or an amplifier with a dedicated interconnect cable, in RCA for classic unbalanced configurations or in XLR for balanced connections seeking better noise immunity over longer distances. It is available in several standard lengths, from 2x0.50 m to 2x2.00 m, in both RCA and XLR.

What to check before buying used
On a used example, examine the Gold-Tube RCA connectors: the gold plating should remain uniform, with no signs of oxidation or looseness in the plug on the socket. For the XLR version, check that the silver-plated alloy contacts show no tarnishing or corrosion, and that the connector locking mechanism remains firm. Also check the sheath along its entire length to rule out any pinching or cuts that may have damaged the Composilex 5 insulation and internal conductors.
