Wireworld Supernova

The Supernova is an optical digital link cable designed by the American brand Wireworld. It is used to transmit a digital audio signal between two devices fitted with a Toslink output and input, such as a player, a DAC or a digital amplifier.

Its distinctive feature lies in the use of a glass optical fibre, manufactured to a specification of its own devised by Wireworld, rather than the conventional plastic fibre generally used for this type of link. The connectors, called Gold Tube, rotate to make it easier to orientate and plug the cable into the various devices.

This cable is aimed at users who wish to make the most of an optical link within a digital system already equipped with Toslink inputs and outputs, and who are looking for a level of finish superior to that of the generic optical cables supplied as standard with the devices.

When buying used, you should check the condition of the glass fibre, which is more prone to breaking than a plastic fibre in the event of excessive bending or impact, as well as the secure fit and free rotation of the Gold Tube connectors at both ends.
