Xgimi HORIZON 20 Max
UHD 4K triple RGB laser projector with 5,700 ISO lumens and 20,000:1 contrast, designed for demanding home cinema and responsive gaming.
Description
The Horizon 20 Max is a UHD 4K projector from Xgimi, built around a triple RGB laser light source. It installs as an alternative to a large-format television to project images from 40 to 300 inches diagonally, from the living room to a dedicated cinema room, with a native resolution of 3840×2160 enhanced by AI Super Resolution.
Its brightness of 5,700 ISO lumens and contrast of 20,000:1 keep images readable even in the presence of ambient light, a point that is often a limiting factor on domestic projectors. The X-Master optical system pairs ultra-high-resolution lenses with aerospace-grade glass, with an optical zoom of 0.9 to 1.5:1 that makes it easy to adjust image size without moving the unit. The colour space covers 110% of REC 2020, and support extends to Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, with a Filmmaker mode that renders the image without additional processing. On the audio side, two 12 W Harman Kardon speakers (24 W total) handle DTS Virtual:X, DTS:X, Dolby Audio and Dolby Digital Plus.
This projector is aimed at home cinema enthusiasts who want a large image without multiplying cables or peripheral devices, thanks to the built-in Google TV interface giving access to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or Apple TV+. The two HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR/ALLM compatibility also make it a sound choice for video gaming on a big screen, with connectivity also including USB 3.0, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and an RJ45 Ethernet port.

What to check before buying used
The RGB laser source itself wears little, but check that the cooling system is quiet and that there is no abnormal fan noise after a long warm-up session. Inspect the dust filters and ventilation grilles for any clogging that would limit the stated brightness. Test the motorised optical zoom across its full range and confirm that the HDMI 2.1 ports accept a 4K signal without flickering. Finally, check that the Google TV system starts normally and accepts updates, as some older units may be stuck on an outdated software version.
