What to check before buying used
The triple RGB laser source generally loses little brightness over time, but a test is needed to check for any colour imbalance or hot spot on a full white screen image. Check that the motorised lens shift works properly (both vertical and horizontal travel) as well as the optical zoom, two mechanisms that can drift out of alignment or become noisy after heavy use. Finally, check the autofocus mechanism and make sure there is no visible dust in the optical path, which could cause shadows on the projected image.
