Yamaha CD-C603

The CD-C603 is a CD changer capable of holding up to 5 discs, compatible with CD, CD-R and CD-RW. It also plays audio files stored on a USB drive, in MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV and FLAC formats up to 96 kHz/24-bit, making it a unit designed both for listening to conventional CDs and for playing digital libraries.

Digital-to-analogue conversion relies on a Burr-Brown PCM1704 circuit, paired with a 1-bit FPGA digital filter and a double mono circuit design, an architecture that separates the left and right circuits to limit interference between channels. The KSS-210A transport mechanism and switching power supply complete this technical foundation, while a Class D output amplifier handles the analogue output. The Pure Direct function, by cutting the digital output and the display, reduces sources of electrical noise in order to prioritise analogue output quality when activated. PlayXchange, meanwhile, allows discs in the changer to be swapped without interrupting current playback.

Available outputs include two RCA analogue outputs as well as optical and coaxial digital outputs, allowing the unit to be connected either to a conventional amplifier or to an external DAC. A remote control is supplied to operate all functions remotely.
