Description
The R-N1000A is a Yamaha integrated network receiver: it combines stereo amplification, digital-to-analogue conversion and direct access to streaming services within a single chassis, without requiring an external source or DAC.
The amplification delivers 100 W per channel at 8 Ω with a distortion rate of 0.07%, enough to drive demanding stereo speakers with headroom. The ESS Sabre ES9080Q DAC provides an extended frequency response up to 72 kHz (−3 dB), beyond the audible spectrum, while the response within the audio band remains linear at ±0.5 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. The YPAO R.S.C. acoustic correction automatically calibrates the sound rendering according to the listening room.
On the connectivity side, the unit integrates MusicCast, WiFi, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz and Amazon Music HD, covering the essentials of network streaming usage. The presence of an HDMI ARC input also allows it to be connected directly to a television.

What to check before buying used
On this type of network receiver, the tests to prioritise concern WiFi connectivity and the stability of the MusicCast module, which may require a firmware update. Also check that HDMI ARC works correctly with a television and that there is no crackling on the amplification channels at high volume. A check of the protection relays and the operation of the YPAO R.S.C. calibration is also recommended before purchase.
