Description
The Sound Hub takes the place of the preamplifier and source manager at Dali for wireless active speaker systems. It brings together the living room's devices in a single unit, then transmits music to compatible speakers from the Rubicon C, Callisto C and Oberon C ranges via wireless digital I2S link, without any interconnect cable or additional power amplifier.
Its connectivity covers both digital and analogue: Bluetooth with AAC and aptX HD decoding, two optical inputs including one intended for the television, a coaxial RCA, an RCA analogue input and a mini-jack, as well as a USB output. An automatic detection system switches to whichever input receives a signal, avoiding the need to manually select the source with every change of use. Volume control takes place right at the end of the chain, on the speaker side, whatever control device is used. Two modular expansion ports allow a Bluesound NPM-1 card to be added later for BluOS multiroom, or a wireless HDMI Surround card.
Compact at 300 x 76 x 213 mm and 1.6 kg, it is aimed at the listener who wants a pared-down setup: a discreet unit beneath the television, active speakers at a distance, and the same system for both music and films. The modular architecture makes it a relevant choice for anyone who wants to start simply and then extend the system to multiroom streaming or home cinema without replacing the whole setup.

What to check before buying used
The main point to check is the wireless pairing with the speakers: ask for a demonstration of the CONNECT procedure and check that there are no dropouts or cut-outs over several minutes of listening. Then check each input one by one, particularly the two optical inputs and Bluetooth, as well as the automatic source switching, which should occur without excessive latency. As the Bluetooth remote control and any expansion cards were originally sold separately, make sure they are present and in good working order. Checking the firmware update also helps avoid incompatibilities with more recent speaker generations.
